Mark Lowry purchased Better Buildings, Inc. (BBI) from Dale Gustavson in March 2016. As COO of BBI, Lowry leads BBI’s Western HVAC Performance Alliance (WHPA) Staff consulting team and provides executive leadership and expertise in energy efficiency program design and workforce development. In 2014, prior to purchasing BBI, Mark served as Chief of Staff to the WHPA, and prior to that he provided five years volunteer leadership within the WHPA. In these WHPA roles, he coordinated industry leadership team input and leveraged relationships to foster progress on mutually agreed-upon market transformation initiatives; liaised with utility project managers; successfully managed contract budget, deliverables, and deadlines; and designed and authored project reports and presentations for senior utility management, WHPA Executive Committee, and WHPA Council of Advisors. During his volunteer years, he also Chaired the WHPA COA, Plan Revision Working Group, and WE&T Commercial Sector Strategy Committee.
For decades, Mark Lowry has provided executive leadership in the arenas of energy efficiency program design and workforce development. As a vocal advocate for career and technical education, he believes that solutions to improving energy performance within buildings are intertwined with reducing national unemployment rates and rebuilding infrastructure, generating many requests to author articles, conduct research, and to speak internationally. Mark’s collaborative approach to strategic initiatives combined with marketing, technology, and operational expertise provide a foundation for organizational development and process improvement in high demand.
Currently, Mr. Lowry serves as Director of Operations & Administration for Rotary International based out of Evanston, Illinois. He leads multidisciplinary teams providing procurement, publications, fulfillment, data services, travel services, and property and facilities management. The Operations and Administration team provides support to virtually all other groups within the organization—from safely moving thousands of travelers every year across the globe to delivering a secure work environment for Rotary International World Headquarters staff.
For over twenty years, Mark worked for Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) in a number of executive positions: Executive Vice President, Director of Operations, Director of IS and Asset Controls, and Director of Logistics.
Mark holds a B.S. in Business Administration and a B.A. in Marketing.
