Barbara Hernesman serves as Co-Chair for three WHPA operating units: Existing Buildings Energy Efficiency Action Plan (EBEE) Committee, the EBEE Exploratory Working Group (EWG), and the WHPA WE&T Committee.
Barbara Hernesman, SynergyNexGen Principal, is a 28-year California License B General Contractor and a leading advocate for workforce development and building performance excellence. Barbara is an analytical planner, strategic thinker, visionary, and coalition builder who uses her relationships and experiences to generate creative and innovative partnerships.
In addition to her serving as Co-Chair on three of WHPA’s operating units and participating in the WHPA Compliance Committee, she is also Acting Chair of The National Earth-Work Association (NEWA).
Ms. Hernesman is a Berkeley Lawrence Livermore Laboratory Building Energy Data Exchange Specification (BEDES) Subject Matter Expert and a National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Scheme Committee Member for Home Energy Professional Certification. Barbara also serves as an Action Team Member for the California Economic Summit. Recently, Hernesman served as executive planner and program developer for an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and International Renewable Energy Council (IREC) accredited training program for a statewide, private sector training firm in California.
Barbara holds a B.S. in Social Services—Public Policy Planning & Community Action—and has completed graduate work in Community Leadership and Behavioral Sciences.
