During the most recent joint meeting of the WHPA Executive Committee, Council of Advisors and Chairs (of WHPA Committees and Working Groups) in mid-August, the Executive Committee approved the formation of a new committee.
Against the changing landscape of IOU administered energy efficiency programs in and beyond 2017, and with the added context that IOU-funded staff support of WHPA committees and working groups is not being continued into 2018, this committee will explore how best to continue capturing stakeholder input.
Chaired by EC Co-Chair Paul Thomas (SDG&E), this new committee (name TBD) will revisit the core principles of effective engagement and interaction between the investor owned utilities (IOUs) and other HVAC industry stakeholders and explore relevant and cost-effective formats for achieving this.
The committee is anticipated to work aggressively in the next two months, culminating in the adoption of a go-forward plan at the annual in-person leadership meeting in early November. With regard to ramping down WHPA staff support in 2017, the IOUs are working with Better Buildings, Inc. on a plan to do so, with more details to be shared soon.
